This month's theme for The Genealogy Blog Party is weddings.
My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few years ago and we had a great celebration! One thing I enjoyed the most was sharing this photograph with family and friends.
This picture is from my parent's wedding back in 1967. It will always be my favorite.
Not only does it include my parents when they were younger, but both sets of my grandparents are pictured. Each set of my grandparents are standing behind their new family member.
My grandfather passed away 11 months after this picture was taken.
My mother's life was devastated at such a young age.
My grandfather never met his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and now his great great grandchildren.
We can only share stories, pictures, and a few of his belongings in telling his life story.
To you it may just be a picture of people standing around. To me it is so much more.
It is a snapshot of a story about a grandfather I never knew who placed his hand on my dad's shoulder knowing his only daughter would be taken care of for the rest of her life.
